Beyonce Makes History As Humanitarian Video Gets Over 1 Billion Messages

Singer makes history

Beyonce is the new celebrity humanitarian in town as she's now helped inspire 1 billion messages for Beyonce, World Humanitarian Day.

The singer made history when World Humanitarian Day was mentioned in 1,029,763,492 messages, with 20 minutes to spare.

The video encouraged people to pledge to help someone in need by sharing the singer’s message: “This World Humanitarian Day I’m doing something good, somewhere, for someone else. Join Me!”

Andrew Essex, chief executive of the company, told Yahoo News on Sunday, "This could arguably be the largest mobilisation of good intention in web history, an amazing coming together of celebrity, brands and NGOs.Think of it as 'We Are The World' for the social media generation".

The 30-year-old received rave reviews both from fellow stars and UN officials on Friday when she wowed an audience by performing her hit 'I Was Here'.

The event was hosted by news anchor Anderson Cooper, who said:  "Is this what happens at the U.N. every Friday night? Because, I've gotta tell you ... I wanna be here every Friday night if this goes on."
