In a raw and honest interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna has laid her feelings for Chris Brown open and after months of speculation about the state of their relationship has admitted that she still loves him and that he is the “love of her life”.
The couple, who broke up in 2009 after Brown assaulted his then girlfriend following a pre-Grammy Awards party were rumoured to have reconnected over the last year, despite the 'Yeah X3' star's relationship with Karrueche Tran.
The 'We Found Love' star broke down as she confessed that she still loved him during the emotional interview filmed recently on her home island of Barbados. Not only does she admit to still being in love with him, she also claims he feels the same way.
“I still love him,” she revealed, according to HollywoodLife.
“We’ve built a trust again and that’s it. We love each other and we probably always will,” she added.
When asked if she though Brown was her “true love” Rihanna replied: “I think he was the love of my life. He was the first love and I see that he loved me the same way. We were very young and very spontaneous. We ran free. We ran wild. We were falling in love going in at a really rapid pace and we forgot about ourselves as individuals.”
The 'Rude Boy' star, who is one of the most desired stars on the planet admitted that he still has the power to affect her.
Speaking of when she sees him, the 24 year-old revealed: “My stomach drops. I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me.”
But Riri ended speculation that they are secretly together by claiming that, while she is “close” to her ex he is in a relationship.
Sadly she added: “He’s in a relationship on his own. I’m single.”
The interview has come as a shock to some fans and worried others who are confused as to why the star still appears so hung up on her previous relationship. Even Oprah seemed shocked at the force of her feelings for the singer, three years after they split.
