Having launched a foul-mouthed tirade at Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh when they decided not to put her through to the next stage, controversial contestant Zoe Alexander has now claimed that she was "manipulated" and "lured" into the show.

Following her performance of Pink's 'So What', the Pink tribute artist, who had revealed in her VT that she wanted to break away from the US star, started to claim: "You told me to sing a Pink song! I didn’t want to sing a Pink song, you guys told me to sing a Pink song."

Despite the judges hitting back at the accusations made by her, Zoe revealed in June that the producers of the show encouraged her to sing a Pink song.

Talking to the Daily Mirror in June, she claimed: "When the judges rejected me I realised I had been manipulated by the X Factor for the previous six weeks. They lured me in, coaxed me and even chose my song all with the intention of setting me up for a fall. I am really shocked at the lengths they will go to to set people up for humiliation.

“They knew I had a bit of attitude on stage – which is nothing like I am in real life. When Gary Barlow told me I was just a Pink tribute act I was stunned – that’s exactly what the producers asked me to be. They mocked me and made fun out of what I do for a living.”

Standing by her statement that the show has no control over the hopeful's songs, Tulisa told us at the press launch last week:

"As far as I am concerned that is not the case. Nobody gets told what to sing, it's their audition at the end of the day."

Weighing in on the auditions process and revealing that the hopefuls have 100% power over what they sing in their audition, executive producer of The X Factor, Richard Holloway said that every "act comes to the show with five songs prepared.

"All the contestants that go in front of the judges, they're all spoken to by the production team as they have to get all the tracks to play so the conversation takes place between them and us about what they want to sing and they go through their choices and the final decision about what they are going to sing when they walk on the stage is theirs, 100% theirs."
