The Avengers fans across the world now have something to look forward to.
Marvel Studios has just announced that the highly anticipated superhero sequel of the third-highest-grossing movie of all time The Avengers 2 will hit theatres on May 1, 2015.
"It looks like the release date might be May 1, 2015, but that can change depending on people's schedules," an insider said to MTV News only one week ago. "The beauty of The Avengers is that you've got so many people in this that even during the shoot if someone has to do another film they can just focus on [other characters]."
Disney has also confirmed the news to the outlet, making the new Avengers release date that marks the fifth Marvel Comic film to be placed on the movie release calendar.
Iron Man 3 will be released next in May 2013, followed by Thor 2 in November 2013, Captain America 2 in April 2014 and Guardians of the Galaxy in August 2014.
The film has an all-star cast: Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans.
The Avengers writer and director Joss Whedon will return to do the same with the sequel.
