Liam Neeson is now a bona fide action star, with the success of 'Taken', in which he delighted fans by growling his way round Europe after his kidnapped daughter, sawning a sequel.
But the actor astonishingly revealed that the only reason he took the role was because he fancied a three week jolly to Paris for filming!
Come now Liam, whatever happened to actor's long winded spoken essays on artistic integrity and only working on films with compelling scripts?
Speaking to Metro the actor said: "I thought it was going to be a straight-to-video release. That is actually one of the reasons I did it, to be honest. I felt like spending three months in Paris, I'd get to do all this physical stuff that no-one would think of me for, and that the film would go straight to video."
However things didn't turn out as Neeson planned and the movie became a huge success $222m on a budget of $19m.
He admitted that the film's success had embarrassed him, saying: "Then it became this big success. I was a tiny bit embarrassed by it, a tiny bit, but then people started sending me action scripts."
Neeson has since starred in wolf fighting action thriller 'The Grey' and will star in 'Taken 2', which is released on October 5 2012.
So Liam Neeson is now a sought after action star, all because he fancied visiting the Eiffel Tower and having a few fight scenes!
