While some conspiracy theorists have tried to claim that Carole Middleton had pushed her daughter Kate into Prince William's path, it seems that that rumours have just been quashed, as the Duchess wasn't interested in the Royal prince but a man named Harry.
It has been reported that when Kate headed to Florence on a 12-week course prior to studying at St Andrews University, Prince William was set to join the group and she wasn't that fussed.
OK! magazine reports that Kate headed to the Italian city to study Italian and history of art at the British Institute in Palazzo dello Strozzino, after completing her studies at Marlborough College, where a boy named Harry also studied.
During her time in Florence, Kate took three-hour daily lessons in Italian and history, as well as pursuing her hobby in photography. But it wasn't always work, work, work for Kate, as she also enjoyed many cocktails with her pals at a place called L'Art Bar, but the young Kate didn't get too boozy.
A friend of the Duchess, told the magazine: “Italian men can be quite persuasive, but Catherine would never overreact to compliments. She definitely was not a giggly sort of girl batting her eyelashes!”
When the group heard that Prince William might be heading out to Florence for a course, Kate didn't fall head over herself to meet him.
“The only time I even remember talking about William was when we found out he was coming to study in Florence, we would speculate about hanging out with him, but to be honest she never showed any interest in him or talked about him that much,” the pal told the magazine.
“She certainly wasn’t going to St Andrews with the intention to snare him or anything like that. In fact she was more hung up on a guy called Harry, but things didn’t work out.”
