Bobby Brown entered rehab this week to receive treatment for addiction issues that were allegedly spurned on by the death of ex-wife Whitney Houston and the subsequent breakdown in his relationship with daughter Bobbi Kristina.
The New Editions singer, who walked out of the 'I Will Always Love You' star's funeral in February after arguing with her family reportedly "hit the bottle" following the death of the star.
His relationship with their only child Bobbi Kristina is said to be at it's lowest ever with the teenager, who has had her own addiction problems refusing to speak to him and was not at his recent wedding in Hawaii to Alicia Etheredge two months ago.
“This year has been tough on Bobby, first with Whitney’s death, then his fallout with his Bobbi Kristina,” a source told RadarOnline.
“He was overcome with emotion, soon became depressed and began seeking solace in alcohol."
“Of course, he’s had his problems in the past, and as his recent DUI arrest proved he hit rock bottom again," they added.
The troubled star was arrested in March for a DUI offense only a few weeks after Whitney's shock death. His motivation for entering rehab, at the urging of his New Edition bandmates and family members is reportedly to mend his broken relationship with his daughter.
“He has to follow the 12-steps and this time patching up his relationship with Bobbi is his priority,” the source added. “When he reaches out to her, he hopes that she will respond and perhaps visit him while he’s in rehab.”
Speaking on the progress Bobby is making, his wife Alicia told the website: “He’s doing great.”
