The 'are they, aren't they?' question is STILL surrounding Rihanna and Chris Brown's relationship. And Rihanna has now taken it a step further by describing the R n' B singer as her 'best friend.'

Talkshow host Oprah Winfrey got to the nitty gritty with the Bajan beauty in a recent interview and was quick to ask Ri about THAT emotional split back in 2009, to which the 'S & M' star even got a bit teary-eyed.

"It was embarrassing. It was humiliating. I lost my best friend," the star said.

She then added on the showbiz couples post-split: "I was resentful. I held a grudge," Rihanna admitted. "I was dark."

A source told US Weekly that the pair had been 'on and off' for majority of 2011, leaving us all wondering exactly what the couple are up to - especially after their alleged recent meet up in France.

And the pair have now adding more fuel to the fire as a source revealed to Heat magazine that Ri is determined to get her ex back:

"Rihanna has wanted Chris back for three years now. And it seems there's no holding her back," the source said.

And it isn't just the public that the 'We Found Love' star has to contend with, it is her mentor Jay Z who has been staunchly against a reunion. Now it seems Riri has faced the rapper though and put him straight on her future with the 'Yeah X3' star.

The source added: "Jay travelled from New York to Antibes for dinner with Rihanna at Le Michelangelo restaurant on Friday July 27, where she apparently told him that Chris was the love of her life and she wanted him back.”

Aaaah, we wish they'd make up their minds! What do you think? Do you see a Rihanna and Chris Brown reunion in the near future?
