'Lawless' and 'Transformers' actor Shia LaBoeuf is set to join controversial director Lars von Trier's latest project 'Nymphoniac', according to reports.

The Hollywood Reporter staes that the actor, who starred in the most recent Indiana Jones movie, is in talks to take a role in the movie.

The movie stars Charlotte Gainsbourd as the nymphomaniac, Joe, who's found by an old man, played by Stellan Skarsgard. Over the film she recounts her varied life, charting its erotic progression.

It's as yet unknown what role LaBeouf will play. He played a risque role in a music video for Icelandic band Sigur Ros.

Von Trier is notorious for starting a wave of directors using unsimulated (real) sex in their movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He also courted controversy at the 2011 Cannes film festival by making comments that appeared to be sympethetic to the Nazis, although he later claimed to be joking.

So the new movie probably won't be without controversy, and perhaps marks another move away from LaBeouf's status as blockbuster matinee idol.
