After the outstanding success of Marvel's superhero crossover movie 'The Avengers', Warner Bros and DC are set to team up their own heroes in a 'Justice League' movie.

Christopher Nolan has reportedly declined the opportunity to be at the helm, and as the acclaimed Batman director doesn't fancy it, the studio are believed to want Ben Affleck to direct the film.

According to Variety, Affleck, who already has directing credits for 'Gone Baby Gone', 'The Town' and 'Argo' is wanted by the studio as they are keen to hurry along.

The previous time Affleck donned spandex, in 'Daredevil', reviews were mixed however, and the actor is on record as saying that he now gives superhero roles a wide berth, telling MTV News in 2009: "['Daredevil'] was not that much fun ... and it's not something I'm particularly looking to go through again."

Yet the magazine reports that Affleck is the only person in the running to receive a draft of the script, written by 'Gangster Squad's' Will Beall.

The movie does however pose a problem for Warner's as the success of Nolan's Batman films and the fact that their own story has come full circle, means that the studio will have to reinvent Batman with what some would regard as indecent haste.

Affleck is also much in demand as a director, and taking the project would rule out other projects for a number of years. He was in the running to direct the reboot of Superman 'Man Of Steel' which will be directed by Zak Snyder.

Explaining his reasons for not getting involved with that project, he said: "With 'Superman,' I think they're going to do a great version. Chris Nolan is brilliant and they've got a great director for it.

"I'd love to do something like 'Blade Runner,' but a lesson I've learned is to not look at movies based on budget, how much they'll spend on effects, or where they will shoot. Story is what's important. Also, there are a lot of guys ahead of me on the list to do epic effects movies."
