The director of 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Bill Condon has released a statement asking fans to leave Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart alone.
The 'Twilight' director has a message for Twihards everywhere in the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, in which he asks them to stop disrespecting his 'Twilight' leading vampire man and lady.
“The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that."
"Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon."
"Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.”
While we're not entirely sure that Bill Condon's latest request for fans to respect Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart during this difficult time wasn't entirely selfless (after all, the guy's got a movie to promote!), you can't deny that the 'Breaking Dawn' director has a point.
Should fans allow Kristen Stewart's recent infidelity scandal - and it is, of course, a scandal, as she conducted her affair with the married director of 'Snow White And The Huntsman' - to affect their enjoyment of the final 'Twilight' installment?
Maybe fans should just enjoy the movie for what it is; the end of an era. The end of an era for the vampire franchise and, more sadly, the end of an era for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart on AND off-screen relationships.
