It was previously reported back in June that 'Dumb and Dumber To' – yes, that’s how you spell it – was no longer on the cards as Jim Carrey was backing out. But now, according to Jeff Daniels, the project may still happen. All this ambivalence is getting kinda dumb now…
Carrey reportedly felt that the studios behind the film, New Line and parent company Warner Bros., had shown a ‘’lack of enthusiasm’’ for the project, so he bailed. He said: “I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all it’s implied in the title.”
But now things are looking up for a the potential sequel as Carrey’s 'Dumb and Dumber' co-star Jeff Daniels has revealed why Carrey bailed on the project, and why he thinks something has changed his mind.
He said: ''Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrellys want to do it. They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren’t trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do ‘Newsroom’ in November.’’
He continued: ‘’So they’re going, ‘Why don’t we just do it right? Let’s get everybody organized to go next May or June.’ If everything works out on the business side, that’s what we’ll do but I think there’s more hope than ever,” Seen Crave reports.
‘’I think Jim just got frustrated and I completely got it. I was frustrated too,’’ he added.
Someone needs to stop getting our hopes up and confirm these reports!
