She took home the Gold on Friday by winning the Womens Keirin final, and having announced her plans for retirement, Victoria Pendleton is keen to move onto the next chapter of her career and it looks as though she's settled on the TV business!
Speaking to The Mirror, a source for the BBC revealed that Pendleton has been approached to appear in the latest series of their hit dance show, Strictly Come Dancing: “The Olympics have been an unbelievable success for the Beeb so far and they want to make the most of it by getting a couple of athletes onto Strictly.
"It makes perfect sense to try to use the Olympic fever that has swept the country to boost their most popular entertainment show.
"They have been planning to approach Victoria for a while as they knew she was definitely going to retire after the games, but her phenomenal gold-medal winning performance on Friday has made it an absolute no-brainer.”
While it seems the entire nation has got behind the Olympics, why not make the most of that buzz! Pendleton would make a fantastic addition to the show, not only for the BBC but also for Victoria herself as a continuation of her Olympic glory.
Although she's not the only Olympic athlete whose expressed an interest in appearing on the show, Rebecca Adlington who swam to victory claiming the Bronze medal in Women's 800m swimming final has also spoken highly of the show, saying: “I’ve always wanted to do Strictly - even thought I know I would be awful. I can’t dance and everybody would be taking the mickey.
“But I would love to do girlie stuff. I love doing my nails. I love having my hair done and putting on a dress. Hopefully in the future I can be a bit more girlie.”
We think the these two Olympic giants would be perfect for Strictly! Would you like to see them swap their lycra for sequins?
