Rap-star Eminem has revealed that he almost quit rapping after his first gig. The music star was so badly booed that the ‘traumatic’ incident almost stopped him following his musical dreams.
"The first time I rapped in front of actual people that mattered, in a club, I got booed. And it was very traumatic for me. I just remember it being so f**king traumatic, and I think I went home and I was like, 'Man, I quit'."
Thankfully, he added: "And you know a week later, a day later, an hour later I got the urge, and I was like, 'I gotta get up, I gotta do it again'."
The real Slim Shady also told NME magazine that if it had not been for his determination to follow his rap ambition he may not have been able to overcome his addiction issues.
Apparently music has given him ‘strength’ in his very famous addiction to pain pills: “I certainly feel like if it wasn't for rap, obviously, I wouldn't be here, but it gave me my voice, it gave me my outlook, it gave me strength,” he said.
“You know what I came back from, overdose and a whole load of s**t - without rap I wouldn't be able to do a f**king thing.”
“This is the one thing I feel that I feel like I have and can do well, if I didn't have this I don't think I could do anything else, except for maybe play basketball.”
It has clearly paid off for the star as he was the first singer to rack up over 60 million ‘likes’ on Facebook, topping both Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
More popular than the Biebs? Now that is a career highlight Slim!
