The news that Angelina Jolie reportedly wants a role in any 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' movie present a strange conundrum.
The Mirror reported a sources as saying: “Angelina kept hearing about the book while she was in the UK. All the girls on set were talking about it and how it’s being made into a film.”
“Angelina went out and bought herself a copy, thinking she’d love a part in the hot topic on everyone’s lips at the moment. She knows the film is bound to be a huge hit.”
On the one hand Ange has a habit of improving most films she's in, plus has proved in the past that she can do sexy better than pretty much anyone.
On the other, we can't quite quite see her as a mildly nervous submissive 22-year-old. Nor is it easy to imagine any man, even a billionaire with a liking for whips dominating her. Outstanding actress as she is, the actress has made her name with a number of vampish roles and may just be too much woman to be believeable as a naive college student.
All the other actresses who've been put in the frame are bright young things like Emma Watson, Elizabeth Olsen or Kriten Stewart, surely an indicator that the star needs to be one of Hollywood's up and coming starlets rather than its undisputed Queen.
Perhaps Ange would be best as director, having made her debut with 2011's 'In The Land Of Blood And Honey'. Plus the book is a female fantasy rather than a male one, so it might be best to get a woman at the helm to ensure things don't turn into a male one.
It'd certainly be interesting to see Angelina's vision of Christian Grey's 'Red Room Of Pain'.
