Selena Gomez is set to move away from her teen idol roots by starring in a rock and roll based indie flick, 'Parental Guidance Suggested'.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star, who's dating fellow teenage lust magnet Justin Bieber will be in the film opposite Nat Wolff ('New Year's Eve'). Selena fans shouldn't worry too much however, as the coming of age movie should appeal.

The story centres on 16-year-old Ric Thibault (Wolff) and Nina Pennington (Gomez) who come of age by going on a rock and roll odyssey. Austin Stowell will play Pennington's overbearing boyfriend.

News of the project leaked this week as several cast members tweeted about being in the new movie. The cast also includes Dylan McDermott and Cary Elwes. It will be written and directed by first time director Tim Garrick.
