For some fans it'll be mightily difficult watching a Bourne film without former star Matt Damon, however new star Jeremy Renner hope that fans don't hold it against him when they go and see 'The Bourne Legacy'.

The star told Flickandbits.com: "What Matt Damon did, and what the previous directors have done, that was great. For those who love the franchise, I'm not replacing Matt, nor would I want to.''

The Avengers' actor added: "It would never have been interesting if I was taking over and playing the same character. Matt is always the face of Jason Bourne and always should be. "I liked this script because it was a very interesting way of continuing the story while honouring what came before."

Jeremy comes off an all action role in box-office smash 'The Avengers', and will hope some of that stardust will rub off on the new Bourne, as he fast establishes himself as an action force to be reckoned with.

The movie will star him and Rachel Weisz, and Renner will play an agent in a similar program to Bourne, but without the amnesia. Weisz a doctor involved with the program that spawned him, Operation Outcome.
