After experiencing the breakdown of his marriage you'd expect Tom Cruise to be holed up indoors bawling his eyes out, not strutting in the LA sunshine with a huge smile on his face! Tom, turned on his megawatt grin for the paps yesterday, as he spoke out on the split.
Just a couple of nights ago (July 27) his former wife Katie Holmes granted reporters a few brief words on the break-up, telling a TMZ cameraman who inquired how her New York dinner was, "Great, thank you". Now Tom has followed suit, with his own short but sweet statement to paps.
As Tom emerged from a Malibu eatery on Friday with a male friend, he sported a huge smile. Looking cool in a white tee, jeans and aviator shades, he happily responded to TMZ photographers who asked him how he was doing, replying "I'm good."
OK so it's not earth-shattering, but its among the first words we've actually heard from Cruise's mouth since news of the split broke earlier this month.
Meanwhile it's emerged that Tom is house-hunting in New York, so he can be close to daughter, Suri who will be living in the city with Katie after she won primary custody of the little girl.
According to the New York Daily News, the actor is limiting his house hunt to 'secluded' properties, Reps for the star have contacted agents in posh suburbs, Westchester County, Stamford and Greenwich to inquire about properties, with a source telling the paper:
"He wants something extremely secluded where Suri can play without paparazzi watching. There are lots of them in these towns."
