The Queen meeting James Bond! Mr Bean in an orchestra! JK Rowling giving a reading! David Beckham speeding down a canal! Last night's opening ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics certainly had a lot going for it.

And with music from Emeli Sande, the Arctic Monkeys and Paul McCartney, it was jam-packed with some of our finest musical exports from recent decades.

But whilst the general feeling on Twitter was overwhelmingly positive, it wasn't unanimous.

Whilst a few were simply underwhelmed or confused, MP Aidan Burley caused a storm when he tweeted: "Thank God the athletes have arrived! Now we can move on from leftie multi-cultural crap."Suffice to say, the last two words of his message did not go down well.

But what did you think? Take a vote in our poll below!

Poll

What did you think of the night?

AMAZING! Danny Boyle did Britain proud

It was OK - a bit long though!

Meh!

Not great, but a good effort

What a load of rubbish!
