The Queen meeting James Bond! Mr Bean in an orchestra! JK Rowling giving a reading! David Beckham speeding down a canal! Last night's opening ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics certainly had a lot going for it.
And with music from Emeli Sande, the Arctic Monkeys and Paul McCartney, it was jam-packed with some of our finest musical exports from recent decades.
But whilst the general feeling on Twitter was overwhelmingly positive, it wasn't unanimous.
Whilst a few were simply underwhelmed or confused, MP Aidan Burley caused a storm when he tweeted: "Thank God the athletes have arrived! Now we can move on from leftie multi-cultural crap."Suffice to say, the last two words of his message did not go down well.
