Hollywood has lost a much-loved actress Lupe Ontiveros, who lost her battle with liver cancer on Thursday.
The 69-year-old was more famous for her role in Desperate Housewives as Eva Longoria’s character from 2004 up until it’s series finale in May 2012.
“I’m deeply saddened at the news of my dear friend Lupe Ontiveros passing,” Longoria, 37, tweeted on Friday. “She was more than a colleague to me, she was my family. My heart is with your family Lupe.”
Ontiveros also portrayed Yolanda Saldivar – the woman convicted of her real-life killing of the young Tejano singer – in Jennifer Lopez’s film debut, Selena, and she has also shared her sympathy.
“I am tremendously saddened by the news of Lupe’s passing!” Lopez, 42, told Us Weekly via a statement. “She was a great actress and working with her on Selena was unforgettable experience. She will truly be missed.”
Ontiveros is survived by her three children and her husband.
