The speculation this week has all been around the possible casting of Emma Watson as Anastasia Steele, but then fans saw an Entertainment Weekly cover featuring Matt Bomer with the headline "Fifty Shades Of Grey: The Wait Is Over".
The cover was alleged to have been leaked on to the internet, but before fans start imagining Mr Bomer indulging in a bit of sexual rough housing, they should bare in mind that it is a hoax, according to Entertainment Weekly themselves.
"Matt Bomer talks about changing the white collar for a grey tie," the photoshopped cover says, implying that Bomer has landed the coveted role at the centre of E.L. James' trilogy of 'mummy porn' novels. Yet producers moved quickly to quell the speculation.
Co-producer of the movie adaptation Dana Brunetti, took to Twitter to dispel the rumours flying around, tweeting: "All of the rumors on #FiftyShades are just that - rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first."
Bomer, who stripped off in 'Magic Mike', has been wanted by fans to play Mr Grey for a while now, but he really captured the imagination as a prospective Mr Grey when prospective writer Brett Easton Ellis gave the actor the thumbs up.
