The reaction to Mariah Carey's appointment on American Idol has been largely positive, but not everyone has jumped on board the happiness bandwagon.
Earlier tonight it was officially confirmed that the world-famous diva would join the show to sit behind the famous desk for its twelfth season.

@ggorgeous was positive, saying "WHAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg happiest girl!!!!", whilst @andyscovered said: "I'm so excited for Mariah Carey! I will watch the next season of Idol EVERY single night if only just for her!"
Similarly, @samNH_21uk said "So glad that Mariah Carey is the new Idol judge", whilst @sweet_tiff4prez wrote: "American Idol sucks. Be happy mariah carey will save it"
Not everyone, however, has been positive.
@LCHRH said: "And just like that, any interest I had in American Idol after all these years is over. I won't watch Mariah Carey."
