Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she went with her "gut instinct" when making her decision about her future on American Idol.
The star, who tearfully confirmed her exit from the show during a conversation with AI host Ryan Seacrest a couple of weeks ago, revealed to Access Hollywood that her gut instinct told her to focus on her other projects.
Jennifer, who is currently on tour with Enrique Iglesias admitted: "The main thing I go with is my gut and my gut was telling me to go back to the things I do. As much as I love the show I'm a performer, I'm an actress and I'm an entrepreneur.
"I've been a judge for two years which was an amazing experience, but it's just not what I do. It is time for me to move on."
Revealing that he was "really upset" over Jennifer and Steven Tyler's exit, executive presenter Nigel Lythgoe told Ryan on his KIIS FM radio show:
"They've got much bigger careers than just sitting judging Idol. They're both very talented people and you have to respect their decision to carry on and do what they were doing before Idol. It breaks my heart, because I love them both dearly."
