Forget Twilight! After an explosive season finale from The Vampire Diaries, we're more interested in seeing how Elena Gilbert handles being a vamp than Bella Swan.
And according to Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the ITV2 teen drama, the transition could bring about a change in Elena's character.
Talking to entertainment.gather.com, the actor said: "Who's to say that when she turns into this vampire and goes through this transformation, when her emotions are amplified ten-thousand fold, that she's not going to become this super unpredictable being?"
As for the continuous Stephen, Elena and Damon love complex Ian said, "It is possible that she could end up changing her mind. After all, she is going to remember those times Damon compelled her, and that could influence her decisions and perhaps change things in this love triangle."
He added that his character won't be holding his breath. "He's not going to be pining... season two and three, he did everything they wanted him to do. He tried to be the person that they wanted him to be. He tried to do it, and guess what, it didn't work."
Despite Damon's attitude towards the brunette it seems his days of protecting Elena are not over. Season four will see a new hunter in Mystic Falls, Conor, played by Todd Williams, and he's not interested in befriending vampires. In fact he's here to kill one particular bloodsucker - you guessed it - Elena Gilbert. So the poor girl is going to be fighting for her life, whilst dealing with blood cravings, grieving her life and trying to stop everyone she loves from blaming themselves for her new status.
We've got some Klaus and Bonnie gossip too. As Bonnie protects Klaus' identity, the 'original' focuses on finding a new way to create his hyrbid army now that Elena's blood is useless to him. But Bonnie is secretly working on a cure for vampirism which involves dark magic that might push her over the edge.
Season four airs in the UK in October.
