Warner Bros have taken decisive action in the wake of the tragic events in Colorado that have seen 12 people killed by a gunman inside a screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
The studio was left with a potential problem, as one of the trailers airing before 'The Dark Knight Rises' was for 'Gangster Squad', featuring Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn, and including a scene where men with machine guns open fire in a movie theatre.
Contrary to some reports, E! News is reporting that the trailer did not air before the screening in which the shootings occurred, and won't at all before other screenings of the movie, lest it upset cinema goers due to the similarity between the scene and events in Aurora, Colorado.
Gangster Squad depicts the LAPD's attempts to prevent East Coast gangsters from moving in to Los Angeles during the 1940s and 50s.
Security has been stepped up around the world for Batman screenings around the world, amid fears that someone may stage a copycat crime.
