Drake has taken to Twitter to call for an end to the violence in his native Canada after two people were killed during a mass shooting this week.

Two people were killed and 23 were injured in a neighbourhood street party shoot out in Toronto.

A gunmen opened fire, killing 14-year old Shyanne Charles and Joshua Yasay, 23. Drake has since taken to his Twitter to pay tribute to the youngsters and their families involved, while appealing for peace.

He writes, "My condolences go out to the family and friends of Shyanne Charles and Joshua Yasay. Senseless violence in Toronto has to stop."

Monday night's shooting came just weeks after a gunman opened fire in a crowded food court at a mall in the centre if the city.

Speaking earlier this week, Police Chief Bill Blair said: '' In my 35 years of policing, this is the worst incident of gun violence in my memory,"

"We are very concerned not only with the quick resolution of this crime, but with the potential for retaliatory violence, which we often see in this type of event," Blair added.

Police suspect gang members were behind the rampage, and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
