EL James' 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' trilogy has re-awakened passion in the bedrooms of millions, and now experts are predicting a horde of Fifty Shades babies in about nine months time.
The series of erotic books have been such a phenomenon that it seems every woman in the country is talking about them. According to The Daily Mail, experts believe that this rekindled interest in sex could lead to a baby boom next year.
Professor Ellis Cashmore, expert in Culture at Staffordshire University, predicts a spike in the number of newborns in Britain next year as a result of the book, which has been dubbed 'mummy porn'.
He said: "With the millions of copies it has sold - it makes complete sense to assume that in nine months time we are going see a baby boom.
By the very nature of the subject matter I’m sure we can expect to see some couple’s revisiting and reigniting ideas that may have lay dormant for some time in the bedroom.
"It may reawaken passions or just accentuate the passions that already exist within relationships."
The best-selling 'Fifty Shades of Grey' books have already been credited with reviving ailing marriages.
The first book in the trilogy by author EL James has sold ten million copies world-wide - outselling Dan Brown’s 'The Da Vinci Code' and even JK Rowling’s' Harry Potter' books.
Who would have thought whips and chains would outsell wands and Quidditch?
Professor Cashmore added: "Previously we have seen a spike in pregnancies during World Cup’s but this time it looks like the girls are being inspired to get into the bedroom.
"It is very sexy book, from what I have read, nothing too over the top graphically - but it has struck a chord by exploring the women’s mind in sexual situations, from their point of view."
He said: "It’s not a difficult equation: more sex equals more pregnancies, which equals more babies."
Expectant mums have even been bombarding parenting websites claiming to have fallen pregnant with 'Fifty Shades Babies'.
Our advice? Enjoy the book, but stay safe. Or else, you could find yourself in an entirely different Room Of Pain very soon...
