Katy B teamed up with fellow UK artist Mark Ronson on the upcoming 2012 Olympics track 'Anywhere in the World'. Katy tells Entertainmentwise how Mark created the instrumental by recording athletes around the world (like Russian sprinter Kseniya Vdovina's heartbeat, for example) and thought that Katy B would be the perfect choice of vocals to finish the track off!
The red-head then went on to say how she was definitely 'intimidated' when asked to work with the huge musician/producer/artist (etc!), but she was even more starstruck when she met the locals, who have been performing alongside her during some of the Olympic Torch gigs.
"I've generally been performing with local people, but I've been very starstruck by some of them! I met a pent-athlete yesterday who I was extremely starstruck by..." the singer said.
Katy's been busy working her way around the UK recently and performing in some places which may not usually have your stereotypical 'Katy B fan'...
"I've played York, Carlisle..been to Blackpool. I've visited places that I haven't visited before, I guess my audience has become a little more varied since the gigs", the singer explained.
Before adding, "Some of the places have been really beautiful, despite the weather!"
Blackpool isn't really known to be one of the sunniest places in the world, Katy...
The Olympic Torch Relay gigs have all been leading up to the huge event that's set to take place in London's Hyde Park on July 26th - where Katy B will be taking to the stage alongside Mark Ronson to perform 'Anywhere in the World' in front of thousands.
Does Katy have any special surprises up her sleeve for the huge event?
"Mark's going to be at the Hyde Park gig so it'll be nice to perform with him again. We don't get the chance to do that a lot, so that'll be more a one-off thing. I'm really looking forward to catching other people's sets as well, such as Rizzle Kicks - they're always hilarious. It'll be a really nice day!"
