Keira Knightley's new film is a romantic comedy with a twist - none of the characters have a future together. That's because in 'Seeking A Friend At The End Of The World', an asteroid is about to hit the Earth and wipe out humanity, still it's something to discuss over dinner at least.
The star admitted that it left her having a less than convential romantic chemistry with co-star Steve Carell, and that their characters sexual relationship came before any notions of romance.
The actress told MTV: "I don't know that their romantic arc actually has much to do with romance in the beginning and has more to do with 'It's the end of the world, and we both want to have sex."
However she admitted that their character's unromantic beginnings didn't stop their being some degree of an on screen spark with Carell, saying: "As far as chemistry goes with Steve, he is one of the loveliest men in the entire world. He is so funny, and so courteous to everyone. He is a consummate professional. He's just a lovely, lovely man. I defy anybody not to have good chemistry with him."
Given that most men on the planet would give an awful lot to have chemistry with Keira, we think Mr Carell will take that.
