Joss Stone may be a soul singer and prefer to keep herself pretty much locked away from the world and the whole 'X Factor generation' that we are currently surrounded by - however, imagine our surprise when the star told Entertainmentwise that she hadn't heard of global superstars One Direction!
However, she has had a conversation with teen superstar Justin Bieber on the phone, despite never listening to the radio and keeping herself 'out of the loop' in terms of current music pop stars.
The singer said: "I spoke to Justin Bieber on the phone and he was really sweet - I don't know, I don't listen to that kind of music. I never listen to the radio. I feel completely out of the loop, but I'm actually ok with that."
Joss then went on to say: "In the loop is a pretty scary place to be, the way I hear new music is when people go 'look this is great, then I think it's really good otherwise people wouldn't suggest it to me. My ears are safe - I don't know the likes of One Direction!"
We genuinely didn't think it was possible to escape the teen bands that seem to be sending teenage girls into a frenzy all across the globe.
However, the 'You Had Me' star did admit to having a slight obsession with girl group The Spice Girls when she was younger, saying:
"When I was younger, I f**king loved the Spice Girls. They are not soul singers, by any structure of the imagination, but they were great for young girls. They gave us lyrics that we could sing along to, it was 'Girl Power!' and 'Strong Women', that was brilliant and they had a message."
"It was pop, but pop can still be good. If there's a call for a certain type of music, whether it's music that's played with real instruments or not, that should happen! If people want it, they should have it."
She then finished up by saying: "But I do think there should be more 'real' music, with more real instruments...no more autotune!"
Hmmm, what do you think? Do we need more 'bandy-bands' in the world at the minute?
