Alec Baldwin allegedly started a fight with a photographer today after obtaining a marriage license for his upcoming wedding to Hilaria Thomas.
A statement issued to Entertainmentwise by his publicist claims "no punches were thrown" and physical contact was only made by Alec in order to protect himself.
His publicist says: "As Alec and his fiancée were leaving City Hall, a 'civilian' walking in front of Alec positioned himself to obstruct the view of a photographer aggressively trying to shoot the couple.
"The photographer was clearly frustrated, pushed past the bystander and assaulted Alec with his camera. There were no punches thrown, and any subsequent physical contact was simply Alec protecting himself."
Speaking to the New York Daily News, the photographer, named Marcus, said: "He was looking mad. He said, 'Step back, step back.' I said, 'We're moving back.'"
When Alec allegedly "grabbed" a second photographer, Marcus told him to back off.
"I said, 'Don't touch him.' I knew he was going to attack me. I stepped back, and he kept coming.
"He comes after me, starts shoving and punching me - one time, right in the chin. And then he started shoving me, and pushing me. Then he goes the other way."
Writing on his Twitter page, Baldwin said it was Santos who assaulted him.
"A "photographer" almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning. #allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded (sic)," he wrote.
"The photographer who assaulted me has (belatedly) gone to a hospital claiming injuries. Colin Myler and his NOTW scams come to NY...
"Ppl who work in the entertainment industry keep appts w the press on a regular basis. Paparazzi assaulting you on the street duznt count."
