Azealia Banks has released the video for her new single ‘Liquorice’, and it’s got a heavy tast of the old west and a unique take on some classic Ameircana.
The video starts with an intro straight out of a Sergio Leone western, and at first you’d be forgiven for thinking that you were watching one, as gunshot effects and two tone animations and stop shots lead into the song.
Azealia dons a myriad of costumes, in a sun drenched ‘dust bowl’ western backdrop, with the singer in everything from leather cowboy outfit to an American flag bikini and a steer costume of some sort (including some rather huge horns) .
The video shot by fashion photographer Rankin, it’s as stylish and as slick as you could ever hope for. Whilst the video itself takes classic American cultural icons, such as, baseball and hot dogs and mashes them up with the rappers own brash personality.
The same personality that saw her storm off twitter last week, only to reinstate the account a few days later.
‘Liquorice’ is the first release for Azelia since she terminated the services of Lady GaGa’s manager and employed Coldplay’s, who also happen to be her boyfriend.
