Recently hired X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has been praised by fellow panellist Gary Barlow as being the best candidate for the job.
The panel, who are said to have welcomed Nicole with open arms, began their duties as an official four-piece yesterday as auditions arrived in Newcastle.
According to The Sun, Gary said of Nicole’s appointment, “I’m made up. I thought all the guest judges were excellent but she had the edge.”
He continued, “She’s exciting, has years of experience and was great on The US X Factor.”
The former Pussycat Doll is no stranger to the UK version having previously filled-in as a guest judge two years ago when Dannii Minogue was on maternity leave and Cheryl Cole was suffering from Malaria, helping to put together Brit Award winning boy band One Direction.
Nicole was then hired on The X Factor USA initially as a co-host, eventually becoming the fourth judge after replacing Cheryl Cole - who was sensationally axed after just a few auditions.
Nicole’s contract was not picked up for a second season of X Factor USA, making way for Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as new additions to the US judging team, alongside Simon Cowell and LA Reid.
During a series of reported unofficial ‘auditions’ for the departed Kelly Rowland’s seat on this year’s X Factor UK, Nicole reportedly shone, beating out other potential candidates, such as Rita Ora, Geri Halliwell and Anastacia.
Nicole Scherzinger will join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh to make up the 2012 X Factor judging panel.
