Gary Barlow has congratulated his close friend Cheryl Cole on her recent number one single 'Call My Name'.

Cole topped this weekend's UK singles chart with her latest effort which is taken from new album 'A Million Lights'.

"Massive cognates on the number 1 @CherylCole," Gary tweeted over the weekend, to which Cheryl then replied: "Thank you Mr. OBE. Proud of you ;)."

'Call My Name' scored the biggest seven-day sales total of any song in 2012.

With a staggering 152,000 downloads shifted since midnight last Sunday, it surpasses DJ Fresh and Rita Ora's 'Hot Right Now' (128,000) to net the best first-week sales for a 2012 single, and Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band's 'Sing' (143,000) to score the best any-week sales for a 2012 single.

Remarkably it is the THIRD time that Cheryl has bagged the fastest seller title in her solo career. 'Promise This' set a new record for 2010 opening sales when it netted 157,000 in its first week, prior to which 'Fight For This Love' sold an astonishing 292,845 in seven days in 2009.

The singer later took to twiter to launch her anticipated new album, which is out in shops today (June 18)

"FINALLY!!!! Its HERE.. #AMillionLights #Enjoy #escape #earphonesinworldout," Cheryl later posted after the midnight album launch.
