The mystery over who will become the fourth judge on the X Factor appears to have been solved following the reports that Nicole Scherzinger has signed a £750,000 deal to permanently join Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh on the panel this year.

Nicole, who appeared as a guest judge in the auditions earlier this month, replaced Cheryl Cole as a  judge on the US version of the show last year. However, shortly after the first season of the show ended, the star revealed she would not be returning.

Having proved to be a hit during her stint as a guest judge on the UK version, a source told the Mail Online: “Nicole has always seemed more relaxed on the UK series. We love her and the judges love her. She seems very comfortable on set and at the auditions.”

It is believed that the star will receive £750,000 for her role of judging UK's talent after The Sun reported a source saying: “Nicole has played the long game on this. She was offered a £500,000 deal a week ago but kept her counsel and managed to get this bumped up by another £250,000.

Delighted with her pay packet, the source added: “She is thrilled with the offer and is expected to sign in the next day and be in place as the fourth permanent judge by Monday.

“Nicole thought her X Factor days were over when she was axed from the US X Factor but she was a hit with British viewers as a guest judge two years ago and when she helped out this series.”

It is thought that an official announcement will be made soon.
