Rock legends Def Leppard seem ready to embrace Tom Cruise's new film 'Rock Of Ages', despite initially being sceptical about whether or not to be associated with the musical.
The band are now seeking to cash in, and have lined up their own 'Rock of Ages' tour this summer, with Poison to promote a new album.
The band freely admit that it was the stars of the film who convinced them that the project was a good dear, perhaps when they learned that stars of the calibre of Cruise, Catherine Zeta Jones and Russell Brand were starring, they realised that the new movie could make them a lot of money.
Lead singer Joe Elliot told the San Francisco Chronicle: "You could say with hindsight that we didn't make a wrong decision, we just made a decision. We revisited that decision when they threw out the idea of the film to us because they mentioned people like Tom Cruise."
The band were rather taken by Cruise, with Elliot very impressed by his singing skills, saying: "He had other movies he was shooting, so it was like a part-time thing. I'm thinking, 'Wow. If he's got that good in four or five months, that's much better than half the people on some of these talent shows.'"
