Being from Scotland themselves, The View were obviously going to attract a huge crowd at this weekend’s Rockness festival – however, the band brought the roof down (literally!) when the tent that they had taken to the stage in, began to collapse due to over-crowding.

The indie-rockers may have kept a fairly low profile in the UK recently, since their smash hit Same Jeans was released back in 2007. However, the guys brought in such a crowd at the 4-day event by Lochness Lake, that the venue actually began to collapse – describing Scottish fans as ‘mental!’.

The band took to the stage, as they prepare to release their fourth studio album ‘Cheeky For A Reason’ on the 9th July and after checking some of the new tracks out during their second performance of the weekend (in a slightly bigger tent...) they’re definitely set to impress!

Speaking to Entertainmentwise before they took to the stage, guitarist Peter Reilly said:

“Our album is definitely more old school and gives us a completely new edge! It has got loads of character, it sounds old school, some are quite personal and some are just songs for the case of being songs designed to make indie places go mental as opposed to pulling at your heartstrings."

The band managed to squeeze five songs from their upcoming album into their performance, which Peter described as the ‘perfect amount’ of old and new material. The setlist included fan favourites, such as ‘Wasted Little DJ’s’ and ‘Grace’, sending the crowd into even more of an uproar – as they sang along to every word and loving every minute!

Bassist Kieren described Scottish crowds as ‘mental!’, but with influences including The Clash, Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac surrounded by such an ‘X Factor’ era, how were the band feeling about releasing an indie album when the competition is so high at the minute?

Peter described the shows as ‘offensive’, before adding: “Talent shows like the X Factor give these people fame on a platter, then just take it away from them and ruin their lives!”

And finally, after four years playing festivals and releasing albums – did this Scottish band have any advice for any fellow aspiring artists?

“Don’t get caught!” the band giggled.

And if you’re a fan of the band, we imagine you’ll know exactly what they’re referring too...

Hmmm, wonder if the boys were wearing the ‘Same Jeans’ throughout the 4-day festival!
