Tom Cruise may play a decadent drunken rocker in his new movie 'Rock Of Ages', but it seems the very act of playing roles like this one were what stopped Tom becoming a wild rock fan or singer himself.
Speaking at the premiere of his new film, the star explained that he had attended gigs by the bands featured in the film such as Guns N' Roses, Poison, Whitesnake and REO Speedwagon, hinting at a wild side that may have seen Tom become a very different man from the clean cut actor loved by film fans around the world.
However, when we asked if he'd ever lived like his character Stacie Jaxx, he stated that despite indulging in the same music as him, he had to rein in any desire to indulge in an identical lifestyle.
The superstar said: "I had a different existence, I was on movie sets, you know studying film so that whole world was different, but I went to the concerts and I'd seen them [the bands featured in Rock Of Ages] play live, but it was a different experience. I was getting my head down studying movies."
Cruise's role in the movie shows that beneath the mild mannered polite exterior, there is definitely a crazy rock god waiting to come out, and perhaps if it hadn't have been for the star's commitment to acting, it would been closer to the truth than seems possible today.
