Producers of America's Got Talent are in turmoil after it was revealed that supposed 'war veteran' Timothy Poe is not the soldier in a photo used during his tearful and dramatic audition on Monday night's show.
TMZ, who first broke the story of his fraud, alleges that TV bosses are planning to edit out the singer, who declared that his stutter was due to a brain injury he sustained while on military service in Afghanistan, however the army has since said that there is no record of him ever being injured in the war.
Reportedly America's Got Talent producers were given the photos by Timothy, and they then aired them during the highly-rated show without questioning him or performing background checks.
Sources connected with the show have told TMZ that there will "definitely be edits" and frantic producers are in talks to decide exactly what will be cut and what if anything they will keep.
America's Got Talent judge Howie Mandel told TMZ: "I was blown away that I was totally taken in. I'm really angry with the guy."
The TV judge went on to add that he thinks Timothy will not be disqualified from the show, but he will now be known as a liar and not a war hero.
Good luck in front of straight-talking AGT judge Howard Stern!
