Friends have defended Demi Moore’s mothering skills following the arrest of her daughter Scout over the weekend for underage drinking and carrying a fake I.D.
The actress has had her fair share of problems this year with the breakdown of her marriage to Ashton Kutcher and her own battles with addiction and an eating disorder which saw her enter rehab in February.
But friends have claimed Scout’s issues, who is Demi's daughter with ex-husband Bruce Willis with drinking are not her mother’s problems and that it was just a “stupid incident.” The 49 year-old is known to have leaned heavily on her daughter's during her breakdown in January when she was hospitalised after collapsing at her Hollywood home.
“Her parents are great parents and even though Demi had her issues a few months ago, those are her issues and they don’t affect Scout in any way nor is Scout influenced by her mom’s behavior,“ a source told the Hollywoodlife.
“Even though Scout is only 20, she’s a grown woman and she makes her own decisions.”
The source goes on to say that Scout is like any normal young person in the US, where the legal drinking age is 21 and that her run in with the police has been completely uncharacterisitc.
“I’m so irritated by this because she’s my friend and it’s being blown out of proportion in the news. How many people who are 20-years-old drink? So many. And OK, she was wrong for showing a fake ID but there are so many people who do that,” her friend added.
“I’m not saying it’s right — I’m just saying if she wasn’t who she was no one would care.”
But with her own issues to deal with, having her daughter arrested and face a court for the offence it is surely going to add to the growing pressure on Demi who is fighting to put her life back together.
