Simon Cowell is reportedly shocked by Britney Spears’ performance on the US X Factor and may be regretting his decision of hiring her.
The 30-year-old pop star, who has had a history of erratic behaviour, joined the judging panel on the popular TV show on a multimillion dollar contract, holding her post alongside Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Cowell himself.
Dramatic Britney sparked controversy last week when she jumped out of her seat and left the set for more than four contestant performances on her first day on the job.
And although Simon allegedly sanctioned such break allowances in Britney’s original deal, the media mogul is said to be regretting his decision.
A source told Us Weekly magazine: ''He wonders if hiring her was a mistake.’’
Simon, who infamously sacked former US X Factor judge Cheryl Cole last year, appears to be showing signs of dismay in Britney’s judging technique.
"[Britney] always said nice things, even telling one mediocre singer he could be 'bigger than Justin Bieber.' Simon was shocked!" the insider revealed.
It has been reported that Simon is concerned on how Britney will fare on the live shows later in the season.
However, an X Factor USA source told the website that Cowell has no problem with Spears, and is in fact very happy with her. The source said: "Simon doesn't regret hiring Britney, and as a judge, she had strong opinions."
There's no smoke without fire...pull your socks up, Britters!
