A free Justin Bieber gig in Oslo, Norway ended in disaster yesterday after 49 teenagers were injured, 14 of which taken for emergency care after fans descended onto the city streets to see the star.
The ‘Boyfriend’ singer had earlier tweeted details of a free surprise gig in the city for fans.
"Here are the details at 9:20 tonight I'm going to do a free show for you the fans at the Opera House here in Oslo," he tweeted.
"The show is part of my Around The World TV special and I will be doing 6 songs, 4 new, 2 old before I leave.”
Despite urging fans to take care and consider their safety, the crazed Bieber fanatics caused chaos in the capital with many needing medical attention as they fought to see the star. The 18 year-old tried to help calm the situation and took to twitter to urge fans to be sensible as the authorities threatened to call off the gig.
"Norway - please listen to the police. I dont want anyone getting hurt," he urged.
"I want everything to go to plan but your safety must come first."
Although no fans were seriously hurt, authorities in the country have confirmed they will be looking into the incident. Mayor Fabian Stang announced an immediate investigation into what went wrong according to TMZ.
"I have already called on the Emergency Planning Agency to examine the entire event from the planning stage to its implementation. We have to find out what went wrong and why it happened."
It is a second controversial incident involving the teenage heartthrob in less than a week. Over the weekend he was accused by a photographer of assault after an alleged scuffle during a date with girlfriend Selena Gomez in California.
The star is expected to be questioned when he returns from Europe following a whirlwind promotional tour.
