Brad Pitt has joked about Will Smith's now infamous red carpet slap incident, saying he would never strike a journalist.
Smith lashed out at a Ukranian reporter when he leaned in for a smooch.
Brad quipped: "I stay away from the entertainment gossip. I don't want to slap anyone.
"Why would that happen? I would never want to hurt anyone."
Vitalii Sediuk has apologised for the incident, telling HipHollywood he suffered from a "splash of emotion".
Smith has also discussed his actions in conversation with David Letterman, saying Sediuk crossed the line.
Of course all those gay rumours can't possibly have helped matters....
