.Fun have told Entertainmentwise about how high they hold up Lady Gaga as a role model.
The 'We Are Young' group told us how much admiration they have for Gaga for the way she has come out to support gay marriage.
“Gay, bi, or transgendered artists are great role model, but they’re a different kind of role model, because they are the actual oppressed people. That’s really important, but another really important think are people that just stand up and speak,” guitarist Jack Antonoff told us.
“Lady Gaga been a really incredible ally. She’s made a point, she’s lost millions of dollars taking her records out of Target, or any big company that doesn’t support equal rights for all people. If the entire music community did that then we'd see more change.”
The band also explain they’re somewhat unusual name.
“We came up with the name Ice Cream – we realised that was a terrible name, but we like what that made us think of, and that was fun.” Drummer Andrew Dost explains.
“We kind of got pressured into deciding, it was like ‘Ok, you need something’, and this was the one we hated the least!”
.fun's debut album 'Some Nights' was released on Monday and is reviewed here.
