She is the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom but Prince Harry has claimed that behind closed doors Queen Elizabeth is “just our grandmother.”
Both Princes Harry and William and other leading royals sat down with Katie Couric for a special interview about their famous grandmother in the lead up to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer.
The special, The Real Queen By Her Own Royal Family is set to air at the end of May on ABC and will reveal intimate details about the famous family.
Party loving Prince Harry admitted that the Queen, who marks 60 years on the British throne is just like any other grandmother.
“Behind closed doors, she's our grandmother, it's as simple as that” he said.
The relaxed interview gives viewers a glimpse of the young royals at ease as 27 year-old Harry jokes about becoming friends with the monarch on Facebook.
“No she hasn't.” the prince replied when asked if the Monarch’s official Facebook page had sent him a friend request.
“Why? Has she friended you?' he joked.
“Hopefully after this interview she will,” Katie answered.
Despite Harry's playful attitude older brother William, who is second in line to the throne revealed he learnt early on that the 86 year-old is always right.
“As I learned from growing up, you don't mess with your grandmother,” he confessed.
The interview will air days before the Diamond Jubilee concert on the 5th of July which will also be shown exclusively on ABC.
A fact that, according to The Daily Mail has annoyed its rivals.
