Prince Harry had the media doing somersaults when he claimed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be running the London Marathon next year.
The red-headed royal let the cat out of the bag during an interview with Sue Barker on the BBC, explaining that, while he himself had been unable to get a place in the London Marathon, his brother and sister-in-law would be running in 2013:
"I've been trying to get a place for years! What do you have to do? What's fantastic is my brother and his wife will be doing it next year, I think."
Really?!
Sure Barker seemed stunned by the news and pointed out that the cheeky prince that he was live on the air. Harry responded to her gentle reminder with his usual dry wit:
"He's going to have to do it now, isn't he?"
Moments later, a spokesman for Clarence House explained that Harry had made the comments "in jest" and that the Duke and Duchess had no firm plans to enter the race.
He's more the court jester than a prince of royal blood, isn't he?
We wonder if his remarks will have the desired effect; maybe William and Kate, keen healthnuts, WILL consider taking part in the London Marathon 2013 now that their cheeky relative has put the idea out there.
Whatever happens, one thing's for sure; we LOVE Prince Harry!
