The Black Keys have claimed that they never wanted to become rockstars.
The 'Tighten Up' rockers told Interview magazine that the band never intended to become famous.
“We don't have expectations or dreams, because those will always just bite you in the ass,” singer Dan Auerbach explained.
“We're very content with where we are and the speed we've been going. The only way we got through was by keeping our expectations very low. We didn't want to be rock stars.”
He went on to say that he really doesn’t care about the how commercially successful the band is, and he is perfectly happy along has he has his health and isn’t in debt.
“It's not about success. Whatever happens, it doesn't matter.”
He continued: “I would like to not go bankrupt or get some incurable disease but other than that, I'm just happy to keep going.”
The Black Keys are set to play the Reading and Leeds festivals this August, alongside headliners The Foo Fighters.
