Simon Cowell is reportedly furious with the decision to bring back Gary Barlow to the X Factor panel.
It was confirmed earlier this week that Gary Barlow was returning to the show. Speaking of his return, Gary said: "I'm thrilled to be back and really looking forward to working with The X Factor team again. The fact that a superstar could just walk out on that stage is very exciting.”
Appearing to be happy with the decision, Simon added: "It’s great to be able to confirm our first judge for this year’s show. Gary has earned his place and I’m excited to be working with him again.”
However it appears as though Simon wasn't as happy as he made out. Following on from the claims made by journalist and author Tom Bower who wrote 'Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell' that Simon wanted to sack Gary from the show, a source told The Daily Star:
"Simon was never Gary’s biggest fan and really wanted to boot him out and get someone else in. He thought he was a bit dull.”
Having reportedly been left feeling "betrayed" by the ITV bosses who are thought to have overruled Simon's decision about Gary, the source added: "It has led to a huge rift between him and ITV.
"Simon has been quietly fuming for weeks and now we have reached tipping point. A confrontation looks imminent.”
