The ever evolving style of superstar Rihanna is almost as talked about as her music, and in the May issue of Company magazine, the singer reveals who her fashion icons are and why she likes getting inked so much.
The 23-year-old is known to experiment with her style, fleeting from boyish and trendy looks to downright raunchy, and changes her hair colour more often than most people have hot dinners.
But it may come as a surprise to you that RiRi's style icons aren't exactly... conventional. The singer has revealed that her many daring outfits could be inspired by the only and only, Rod Stewart.
She said: “My style icons? Chloë Sevigny is so sick. The Olsen twins are sick too.”
“Debbie Harry, definitely, and Vivienne Westwood is top notch! There are a couple of guys though – Johnny Depp’s style is just effortless and, for me, Rod Stewart gets it right."
She also admits to her style changing frequently, and that she didn't always dress like the sex symbol she is today.
"My style is forever evolving. As a little girl, I only ever wanted to wear my brother’s clothes.”
She continued: “I grew up with my brothers and [male] cousins so it was only when I met my best friend at 14 and discovered fashion magazines that I got into heels.”
“Before that, I always went out in sneakers and pants with a t-shirt rolled up and my cap low. I was never girly," she adds.
The star also talked about her obsession with getting inked. She said: “I have an addictive personality and I LOVE tattoos."
“When I was 16 I was curious about them and started hanging out in tattoo shops in downtown New York, watching people get tattooed and pierced,” she told the publication.
“I finally grew the balls to get one when I was 17 then started getting more. I still want another now!”
