Even though Cheryl Cole's heart was shattered by her ex-husband Ashley, it seems that the singer can't cut off ties from his family and is still close to his mum.
Susan and her son Matt both attended Cheryl's 28th birthday in London last year despite Cheryl divorcing the Chelsea footballer in May 2010.
Cheryl still loves the family and even sent gifts along to Matt's suprise 30th birthday party, which was recently held at London's Mayfair hotel.
"Cheryl arranged for a cake to be delivered and sent a gift via Ashley's mum," a source told the Daily Star. "Ashley's mum still loves Cheryl and so does Matty. He recently had another child and Cheryl sent flowers and presents and now she's done it again. They were all incredibly touched."
The 'Fight For This Love' singer's own mother, Joan Callaghan, was said to be at the heart of the dispute between Cheryl and Ashley but that's the only way that she wants it.
"I've come to the conclusion that I don't trust anybody in life except my mother and my dogs. I love having her there."
